Community colleges know the value of providing a skilled, well-trained workforce targeted to meet the needs of area businesses, as well as keeping their technical and academic offerings current with employers’ needs. Developing creative and flexible training programs that will meet the needs of the corporate sector is always a challenge; any new programs must generate enough enrollments to cover the high cost of their development. But these days the challenge extends beyond curriculum to discovering the most efficient methods of delivering that training. Before investing in new training programs or altering established programs, your college needs comprehensive research that thoroughly assesses local employers’ needs — and an Employer Scan from CLARUS Corporation can help.
In-depth telephone interviews will be conducted with employers in your area, as well as on-site personal interviews with key businesses selected by the College, conducted by the Project Team Leader.
Data collected will include:
- Future hiring needs
- Skill sets missing in current applicants
- Training needs
- Use of and satisfaction with the services of your college
These results will then be compared to current programming at your college to identify the key unmet needs to which the College might respond.
Your college will receive recommendations on responding to those unmet needs, including new program areas that should be developed, current programs that should be repackaged or closed, and programs that would be more successful with an alternative delivery method. Specific recommendations will also be made as to what steps should be taken to strengthen the contract training programs at the College, if needed.
