WE
NEED YOUR HELP!
After
a long wait, we expect to release the newest version of
ClassTracks by Christmas. What started as a simple upgrade of
features has turned into a major program rewrite. To facilitate
our final testing and evaluation stage of the newest version of
ClassTracks, we are asking for your participation in two ways.
First,
please e-mail us
at classtracks@claruscorporation.com
and tell us whether your computer
monitor settings are at 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 or another
setting. We are in the final screen design and want to make sure
that the screen settings are compatible for you.
If you are unsure of how to find this, simply go the
Windows Start menu, click Settings,
click Control Panel,
click Display, click Settings tab and check the Screen Resolution setting in the lower
left corner of the display box.
Second,
we are inviting you to provide input as we complete the designs
by participate in our online surveys. We
will be running online surveys each week to ask your input on
the individual screens and reports of the newest version of
ClassTracks. If you are willing to participate, we will simply
e-mail you a link to an online survey each week to solicit input
about the designs and functionality. Simply
reply to this e-mail and tell us you want to be included in the
online testing and we’ll do all the rest. Also, if there are
others you want to include, please provide their names and
e-mail addresses.
We
invite you to assist us in making ClassTracks the very best
product possible. If you have any questions, please contact me
at kathi@claruscorporation.com
or call me at 308.762.2565 extension 100.

NEW
FEATURES INCLUDE:
·
Finally,
here’s a synopsis of the updates for the newest version of
ClassTracks – ClassTracks Sequel Version 5.0.
·
Sequel
is being used as the new database structure for ClassTracks. If
you have a Sequel Server, it will run on it or if you do not, it
will run with the free version of Sequel. No additional software
will have to be purchased. The goal of using the nationally
recognized database is to allow us to apply for third party
vendor status with the major MIS systems to automate uploads
back into your systems as part of a planned schedule.
·
New
screen designs eliminate the up and down and sideways scrolling
and provide printing functions, exporting functions and other
options within the reports.
·
The
selection criteria screen is even easier to use and has visual
clues to let you see which variables are selected – no more
guessing.
·
Military
time is now an option, not a mandate!
·
New
variables have been added to the database. To review the new
data readiness form with the new variable layout, click here
to download the new data readiness form. New variables include:
Section Income and Expense, a Unique Course Identifier, Credit/
Noncredit variable, Department, School, College, Instructor ID,
Instructor Load Hours, Cross-listed Course Identifier and four
open variables that can be customized by the college.
·
Multiple
files can be frozen for each semester, rather than only one
semester of data being stored.
·
New
functionality for multiple semester data and ability to examine
multiple semesters of your choice; for example, Fall 2002, Fall
2003, Fall 2004, etc. Graph options will be available to view
course enrollments during a semester, depending on the number of
semester updates that are done in a semester.
·
An
import function makes the data import easier for your IT
Department, and once a file is defined, there is an automated
function in ClassTracks that will refresh a current semester as
frequently as the query is run and place it in the correct
directory. It searches for new file data and time and
automatically refreshes – no more manual updating.
·
Additional
analysis and reporting are being added to the current reports to
save time in analyzing the data.
·
Multiple
value fields, such as multiple instructors, locations, etc., can
now be loaded and reviewed correctly.
·
Cross-listed
classes are now identifiable and can be viewed independently or
combined.
